The Priorat Creu Celta 2020 is a rich and complex wine, showcasing the best of the Priorat region. Made predominantly from Garnatxa (Grenache) and a touch of Samsó (Carignan), this wine offers a deep, opulent profile. On the nose, you’ll find aromas of dark chocolate, cherry, and plum, intertwined with hints of pine and smoky nuances. The palate is equally impressive, with layers of dark spicy fruit flavors complemented by velvety tannins and a fresh finish. This full-bodied wine has a long, satisfying finish, making it an excellent match for steak, slow-cooked meat dishes, and hard cheeses. The vineyard is planted in the traditional Llicorella soil, a type of slate. The vines have to struggle to survive in this dry mountainous climate, but those that do yield exceptionally concentrated fruit, which give complex and long lived wines.
The vineyard contains 60-80 year old Garnatxa (Grenache) vines and in 2003/04 terracing was created which allowed more planting to occur. More Garnatxa, some Samsó (Carignan) and a little Syrah were selected.
Garnatxa is the key grape of the region, and is the classic Mediterranean red grape. It offers red fruits, spice and in the right terroir produces ‘world class’ wines.
Samsó thrives in Priorat. It is a great blending partner to Garnatxa due to its tannin, acidity and colour.
Syrah whilst not native to the region adds depth, dark fruit and complexity.

The name “Creu Celta,” meaning “Celtic Cross” in Catalan, reflects the family’s Irish heritage, inspired by the 15th-century High Cross on Devenish Island in Northern Ireland.
The vineyard combines very old vines, aged between 60 to 80 years, with newer plantings from nearly 20 years ago. The primary grape varieties grown include Garnatxa (Grenache), Samsó (Carignan), and Syrah, each contributing to the complexity and richness of the wines
Grenache / Garnacha
Deliciously, round, fruity and heartwarming, grenache can be truly majestic when done well. Its likeability comes largely from its full body and sensation of sweetness which comes from its high levels of alcohol and glycerol. Expect plump, red fruits, black cherry, baking spice flavours and a hit of white pepper, developing into jammier, stewed fruit flavours in hotter regions.
