The Bogle Chenin Blanc 2015 is a refreshing and vibrant wine from the Clarksburg region of California. It displays a pale straw color and offers an enticing bouquet of Asian pear, Golden Delicious apple, and subtle floral notes.

On the palate, it is crisp and clean, with flavors of casaba melon, honeydew, and a hint of stone fruits. The wine has a satisfyingly viscous mid-palate and finishes with a touch of spicy Stargazer lily and fresh honey, adding depth to its overall complexity.

This Chenin Blanc is well-balanced, making it an ideal choice for sipping on a warm day or pairing with light dishes

The Bogle Chenin Blanc 2015 is crafted from grapes grown in the Clarksburg region of California, known for its cool breezes and rich, loamy soils. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness to ensure vibrant flavors. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the fresh, fruity character of the wine. Unlike some other white wines, this Chenin Blanc does not undergo malolactic fermentation, which helps maintain its crisp acidity. After fermentation, the wine is aged briefly in stainless steel to retain its bright, clean profile before being bottled

Bogle Winery, located in Clarksburg, California, has a rich history that spans six generations of the Bogle family. The journey began in the late 1870s when Captain AJ Bogle, a Civil War infantryman, moved west from Tennessee to the California Delta. Initially, the family farmed cherries, peaches, and pears.

During the Great Depression, the Bogle family lost their land but managed to stay together by becoming tenant farmers. It wasn’t until 1968 that Warren Bogle and his son Chris planted the first 20 acres of wine grapes on their Home Ranch. For the next decade, they grew grapes for other wineries before releasing their own wine under the Bogle label in 1978

The Country

The United States boasts a rich tapestry of wines, reflecting its vast and varied terroir. Winemaking in the U.S. dates back to the early European colonists and has overcome challenges such as Prohibition in the 1930s. Today, it’s the 4th largest wine producer globally, with California leading at 90% of the country’s output. The Golden State is known for its robust Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, while Oregon excels in Pinot Noir and aromatic whites. Washington State offers fruity reds with sweet-tart acidity, and New York is gaining fame for its Riesling and Merlot-based blends. The U.S. wine scene is characterized by its pioneering spirit and the pursuit of winemaking excellence, with every state contributing to its dynamic wine culture

The Region

Located in the heart of California’s Sacramento River Delta, the Clarksburg AVA is a unique wine region known for its fertile soils and distinctive climate. Established in 1984, its warm days are dramatically cooled by the “Delta Breeze” flowing from San Francisco Bay, creating ideal conditions for grapes to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant acidity.

While a significant portion of its grapes supply wineries across California, Clarksburg is increasingly celebrated for its own estate bottlings. The region has earned particular acclaim for its outstanding Chenin Blanc, producing a range of styles. Chardonnay also thrives, alongside a diverse palette of other white and red varietals including Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and various Rhône and Iberian grapes. The historic Old Sugar Mill, now home to multiple tasting rooms, offers a fantastic window into this charming and quality-driven region.
