The Chateau La Sauvageonne Gerard Bertrand 2015 has a very complex and extremely fragrant revealing aromas of hawthorn, almond and floral notes of violet and yellow fruits (mango and apricot). Very delicate woody side with notes of gingerbread and tobacco.

The colour has classically pale rosé de Provence look, slight copper hue. Youthful and fresh nose. Displaying hints of citrus and grape zest with a slight hint of red berry and plum. With green apple and pear. It is a good bite on the palate. Distinctly dry, with a generous fruitiness. Bright acidity here. There is no indication of oak. Some nuttiness, like fresh almond. Some spicy notes, like wild herbs. A touch of garni. Quite long mouth-watering finish. Good juiciness. Good purity, and an attractive wine to drink quite early on.

The harvest is manual and the different grape varieties are harvested separately. The grapes are cooled to 8°C and immediately pressed gently to extract the best juices. The fermentations are carried out at controlled temperatures and last about 2 weeks. Halfway through fermentation, part of the must is barreled in new French oak barrels for 6 months. The wine is then aged on fine lees with regular stirring.

Grenache / Garnacha

Deliciously, round, fruity and heartwarming, grenache can be truly majestic when done well. Its likeability comes largely from its full body and sensation of sweetness which comes from its high levels of alcohol and glycerol. Expect plump, red fruits, black cherry, baking spice flavours and a hit of white pepper, developing into jammier, stewed fruit flavours in hotter regions.

Roussanne

Roussanne is a white wine grape originally from the Rhône Valley in France. Its name comes from the French word “roux,” meaning reddish-brown, which describes the grape’s russet-colored skin when ripe. Roussanne is known for its bright floral aromas and complex flavor profile, which includes notes of stone fruits like peach and pear, as well as honey, chamomile, and spices.

This grape thrives in warm climates, producing rich, full-bodied wines with a silky texture and good acidity. However, it is notoriously difficult to grow due to its susceptibility to mildew, rot, and uneven ripening. Despite these challenges, Roussanne is highly valued for its ability to add elegance and aromatic complexity to wine blends, particularly when paired with Marsanne

Vermentino

Vermentino is a light-skinned white wine grape variety primarily grown in Italy, particularly in Sardinia and Liguria, as well as in Corsica and parts of southern France. The grape is known for producing wines with a fresh and aromatic profile, often featuring flavors of lime, grapefruit, green apple, and almond.

Vermentino wines are typically dry, with a medium-light body and medium-high acidity, making them refreshing and versatile. They can be made in both oaked and unoaked styles, with the oaked versions offering a richer, fuller taste. The grape is also used in blends, particularly in Provence Rosé, where it is known as Rolle

Viognier

Viognier, pronounced “vee-own-yay,” is a captivating white wine grape variety with a rich and aromatic character.

On the palate, Viognier is viscous and full-bodied, akin to Chardonnay. Despite its sweet-smelling bouquet, Viognier is typically dry.

Viognier pairs beautifully with delicate meats or scallops flavored with stewed fruit, almonds, citrus, or aromatic herbs
