The Roucas Toumba Les Premices Vacqueyras 2015 is a remarkable white wine crafted from a blend of six grape varieties, including Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Grenache Blanc.

This wine exhibits a spring-like bouquet with notes of hawthorn, honey, white-fleshed fruits, and grilled wood.

On the palate, it is ample and long, with a rich texture that coats the mouth, perfectly balanced by the natural acidity of the harvest. The wine’s complexity and freshness make it a delightful choice for gastronomic pairings

The Roucas Toumba Les Premices Vacqueyras 2015 is produced from a blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Grenache Blanc. The grapes are harvested manually in the early morning to preserve their freshness. After a direct press, the juice undergoes a 24-hour cold stabilization before being transferred to vats without the addition of yeast. The wine is then aged for one year in 500-liter barrels sur lie, which enhances its complexity and texture. The production is limited to 3,000 to 4,000 bottles per year, ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail

Bourboulenc

Bourboulenc is a white grape variety native to the Mediterranean regions of France, particularly the southern Rhône Valley and Languedoc. This grape has been cultivated for centuries and is known for its ability to withstand hot, dry climates while maintaining good acidity. Bourboulenc is often used as part of blends, contributing freshness and vibrant acidity to the wines.

Wines made from Bourboulenc typically display a pale golden color and exhibit aromas of citrus, white flowers, and a touch of minerality. On the palate, these wines are fresh and lively, with flavors of lemon, grapefruit, and sometimes a subtle herbal note. The grape’s natural acidity makes it an excellent partner in blends, where it helps to balance and enhance the overall structure and complexity of the wine. Bourboulenc is a key component in some of the most famous white wines from the southern Rhône, adding a refreshing dimension to these robust and aromatic blends.

Clairette

Grenache / Garnacha

Deliciously, round, fruity and heartwarming, grenache can be truly majestic when done well. Its likeability comes largely from its full body and sensation of sweetness which comes from its high levels of alcohol and glycerol. Expect plump, red fruits, black cherry, baking spice flavours and a hit of white pepper, developing into jammier, stewed fruit flavours in hotter regions.

Marsanne

Marsanne is a white wine grape variety originating from the Northern Rhône region of France. It is known for producing deeply colored wines that are rich and nutty, often with hints of spice and pear. Marsanne wines typically have high alcohol content and can be oak-aged to develop more body. As the wine ages, it takes on a darker color and the flavors become more complex, often exhibiting an oily, honeyed texture.

Marsanne is frequently blended with Roussanne, another Rhône variety, to create balanced and aromatic wines. Outside of France, Marsanne is also grown in regions such as Australia, where it has found a second home, as well as in the United States, Switzerland, and Spain

Roussanne

Roussanne is a white wine grape originally from the Rhône Valley in France. Its name comes from the French word “roux,” meaning reddish-brown, which describes the grape’s russet-colored skin when ripe. Roussanne is known for its bright floral aromas and complex flavor profile, which includes notes of stone fruits like peach and pear, as well as honey, chamomile, and spices.

This grape thrives in warm climates, producing rich, full-bodied wines with a silky texture and good acidity. However, it is notoriously difficult to grow due to its susceptibility to mildew, rot, and uneven ripening. Despite these challenges, Roussanne is highly valued for its ability to add elegance and aromatic complexity to wine blends, particularly when paired with Marsanne

Viognier

Viognier, pronounced “vee-own-yay,” is a captivating white wine grape variety with a rich and aromatic character.

On the palate, Viognier is viscous and full-bodied, akin to Chardonnay. Despite its sweet-smelling bouquet, Viognier is typically dry.

Viognier pairs beautifully with delicate meats or scallops flavored with stewed fruit, almonds, citrus, or aromatic herbs
