The estate’s iconic white wine expresses all the purity and minerality of the Suronde terroir. A refined and perfectly-balanced expression of Chenin Blanc with fleshy texture and complex aromas. Beautiful layers of floral, nut and orchard fruit aromas. Expect flavours of white blossom, lime zest and yellow apple underpinned by roasted hazelnuts. Full and finely-structured on the palate with great length.

30 to 40 years-old vines planted on sandstone shale soils with clay-silt texture. 5,000 vines per hectare, yields 25hl/hectare. After meticulous ripeness monitoring, the historic plots of the estate are harvested by hand in several successive passes, with bunch selection in the vineyard. 100% free-run juice. Pressed gently, fermented at 16-18° for 1 month, with each plot kept separate in stain- less-steel vats. The best wines are blended by tasting and then matured for 8 months on the fine lees in stainless-steel vats. Bottled in the summer following harvesting.

What started as the desire to fulfil a lifestyle dream has since developed into a full commitment to winemaking in the heart of two of the Loire ́s most iconic appellations – Bourgueil and Anjou. Kathleen Van den Berghe and her family not only fell in love with Château de Minière but also with the estate’s historical Cabernet Franc vineyards and the outstanding wines they produce. Eventually they would expand their passion to Chateau de Suronde.

Chenin Blanc

Chenin Blanc is an incredibly versatile grape used to make white wine of varying styles, be it clean and crisp, oak aged, sweet or even sparkling. Regardless of its style, Chenin Blanc is often characterised by its distinct sweetness, as well as its inherent high acidity which helps preserve the wine for unrivalled longevity.
