Tanqueray gin has a rich history that dates back to 1830 when Charles Tanqueray established his distillery on Vine Street in Bloomsbury, London. Charles, who came from a family of clergymen, chose to pursue his passion for distillation instead of following in their footsteps. He meticulously experimented with over 300 recipes before perfecting the iconic Tanqueray London Dry Gin, which is known for its blend of juniper, coriander, angelica root, and licorice.
After Charles’s death in 1868, his son, Charles Waugh Tanqueray, took over the business and continued to uphold the high standards set by his father. Despite the distillery being heavily damaged during World War II, the brand persevered and relocated production to Scotland.
Today, Tanqueray is celebrated worldwide, particularly in the United States, for its premium quality and timeless appeal
