Saint Sithney Summer Fruit Gin opens with a bright, inviting nose of freshly picked strawberries and sun-warmed raspberries, lifted by a darker, jammy note of ripe blackcurrant. Beneath the fruit is a gentle thread of juniper pine and soft citrus that reminds you this is a true gin first, giving the aroma a fresh, hedgerow quality.
On the palate, Saint Sithney Summer Fruit Gin is smooth and generously fruit-forward. Ripe strawberry leads with a soft, natural sweetness, followed quickly by the tangy brightness of raspberry. Blackcurrant adds depth and a gentle tartness, keeping the fruit lively and stopping it from becoming cloying.
As it settles, the classic gin structure comes through. Juniper provides a clean, resinous backbone, while delicate floral and botanical notes add softness and lift. The balance between berry and botanical is where this gin shines, with natural-tasting fruit rather than anything sugary or artificial.
The finish is clean, elegant and refreshing, with lingering summer berry, a final whisper of juniper and a soft floral note. Saint Sithney Summer Fruit Gin captures the taste of a Cornish summer in the glass: rounded, fruity and beautifully poised.
Saint Sithney Summer Fruit Gin comes from Saint Sithney Distillery, a family-run Cornish distillery founded in 2023 by husband and wife Greville and Wendy Richards. The distillery sits on a coastal farmstead in the parish of Sithney, near Helston and the fishing village of Porthleven in West Cornwall. The founders draw inspiration from the area’s wild landscape and heritage.
The distillery takes its name from Saint Sithney, an early saint of the Cornish parish. In local legend, Sithney was asked to become the patron saint of women seeking husbands. He protested that he would never get any rest, and so became the patron saint of mad dogs instead. That sense of Cornish character and humour runs through the brand.
Saint Sithney began with its flagship Cornish Dry Gin in December 2023, which went on to win a Taste of the West award. Orange and Pink gins followed. In 2026 the distillery launched Saint Sithney Summer Fruit Gin alongside new Elderflower and Rhubarb expressions as part of its colourful “rainbow” range, with Summer Fruit presented in a distinctive purple bottle.

Place and memory are inherently interlinked throughout the cornish landscape. At Sithney, the ancient and the modern meld in the present, creating links to the past and a grounding in place and identity.
Named after Saint Sithney who came to Cornwall as one of a band of Irish missionaries. Legend states that God asked Sithney to be the patron saint of women seeking husbands, but Sithney retorted that he would never get any rest and so instead became the patron saint of mad dogs!
History is entrenched in every aspect of Sithney, even below the ground as the landscape is peppered with mines, some of which go back as far as Tudor times- the most renowned being the Great Wheal Fortune mine. Many generations of Cornishmen toiled in these pits, producing copper, zinc, arsenic, tungsten and tin. It is said that in the 1950s, a lone minor was seen to be working in the burrows, taking two sacks of Wolfram daily to the nearby village of Camborne to sell. And so, the wheel of fortune turns and, like the rotations of the hands of a clock, time has brought a new spirit of creativity and pride to the small parish – Saint Sithney Distilling co.
