Saint Sithney Cornish Orange Gin is a bold, vibrant celebration of citrus crafted in small batches on a historic coastal farmstead in Cornwall. Designed to be rich, zesty, and beautifully bittersweet, it showcases citrus in its most sophisticated form. By marrying bright, juicy blood oranges with their signature distillation process, the Saint Sithney team has created a sun-kissed, indulgent spirit that brings the feeling of lazy summer afternoons by the sea straight into the glass.
Flavor Profile & Aroma
Aroma: Bright and uplifting with vivid orange zest at the forefront. Soft floral notes of hibiscus intertwine with a gentle, warming spice to create a distinctly sunlit, inviting bouquet.
Taste: Vibrant, rounded, and full of character. The bold, juicy flavor of real blood orange peel unfolds gracefully across the palate. Delicate hibiscus florals add a lifting elegance, while classic juniper anchors the citrus to ensure it retains the true soul of a craft gin. A soft thread of underlying spice brings warmth and balance.
Finish: Long, refreshing, and clean. It leaves a striking bittersweet impression with lingering notes of orange blossom, candied peel, and a bright citrus echo that instantly invites another sip.
Sustainability & Craftsmanship
Like all spirits from the Saint Sithney Distillery, this Orange Gin champions honest, artisanal production. The spirit gets its deep, authentic flavor and stunning color strictly from real blood orange peel and hand-picked botanicals like hibiscus—using absolutely no artificial flavourings. Distilled on the Cornish coast, it features locally sourced ingredients and comes housed in a fully recyclable glass bottle sealed with a natural cork. It is also naturally gluten-free.
Recommended Pairings
The Perfect Serve: Pour generously over plenty of ice, top with a premium tonic or ginger ale, and garnish with a fresh wedge or wheel of orange.
Sunset Negroni: Its bittersweet depth makes it the ultimate hero for a citrus twist on the classic Negroni. Mix equal parts Saint Sithney Orange Gin, Campari, and Sweet Vermouth, stirred over ice.
Cornish Sunrise: A juicy, refreshing cocktail shaken with fresh blood orange juice, lemon juice, and a touch of honey or agave syrup.
Food Pairings: The zesty, rounded notes of the blood orange pair wonderfully with a square of rich dark chocolate served on the side.
Saint Sithney Distillery was founded in 2023 near the coastal village of Porthleven in West Cornwall by husband-and-wife duo Wendy and Greville Richards.
Farming Roots: Greville brought a deep connection to Cornish agriculture, having previously co-founded Southern England Farms—one of the UK’s largest suppliers of fresh produce.
Driven by Passion: Tired of mass-produced gins, Wendy (an avid home cook) set out to create a truly local, premium craft spirit distilled directly within their home parish of Sithney.
Perfecting the Recipe: Working alongside master distiller Matt Servini, the founders blind-tested several botanical formulations before settling on their signature, unashamedly juniper-forward Cornish Dry base.
The Launch of the Orange Gin
Following the successful debut of their original Cornish Dry Gin in December 2023, Saint Sithney set out to expand their lineup with distinct flavor expressions:
Expanding the Lineup: Recognizing a demand for elevated, natural fruit-infused spirits, the team introduced their orange-flavored gin expression (often featured in their range under the name Cornish Sunset).
Focusing on Quality: While many flavored gins rely on artificial syrups, Saint Sithney developed their Orange Gin around real blood orange peel, floral hibiscus, and subtle spices to preserve the integrity of a traditional craft spirit.
Local Heritage & Design
Historical Mining Roots: The parish of Sithney has a rich industrial history dating back to Tudor times, once famous for tin and copper mines like the Great Wheal Fortune.
The Cobalt Blue Bottle: To honor this heritage, Saint Sithney bottles its spirits in distinctive cobalt blue glass featuring local maps and iconography celebrating Cornwall’s mining and coastal culture.

Place and memory are inherently interlinked throughout the cornish landscape. At Sithney, the ancient and the modern meld in the present, creating links to the past and a grounding in place and identity.
Named after Saint Sithney who came to Cornwall as one of a band of Irish missionaries. Legend states that God asked Sithney to be the patron saint of women seeking husbands, but Sithney retorted that he would never get any rest and so instead became the patron saint of mad dogs!
History is entrenched in every aspect of Sithney, even below the ground as the landscape is peppered with mines, some of which go back as far as Tudor times- the most renowned being the Great Wheal Fortune mine. Many generations of Cornishmen toiled in these pits, producing copper, zinc, arsenic, tungsten and tin. It is said that in the 1950s, a lone minor was seen to be working in the burrows, taking two sacks of Wolfram daily to the nearby village of Camborne to sell. And so, the wheel of fortune turns and, like the rotations of the hands of a clock, time has brought a new spirit of creativity and pride to the small parish – Saint Sithney Distilling co.
