This initial iteration was created during a period of surplus older whiskies, and it contained whiskies aged between 15 and 60 years.
The philosophy behind Johnnie Walker Blue Label Whisky is one of rarity and exclusivity. It is crafted from a selection of the rarest and most exceptional whiskies from across Scotland, drawn from Diageo’s extensive portfolio of distilleries. Only about one in every 10,000 casks possesses the elusive quality, character, and flavour deemed suitable for this prestigious blend. Historically, the blend has included malts from distilleries like Caol Ila, Royal Lochnagar, and Mortlach, alongside grain whisky from the now-defunct Auchtertool and Port Dundas.
While the precise composition evolves, current iterations often feature single malts from Cardhu, Clynelish, and Benrinnes, with Cameronbridge contributing grain whisky, and a notably high malt content, reportedly around 80%.
