Hungary

Hungary is home to 22 wine districts across six main regions. The Tokaj Wine Region is particularly famous for its sweet Tokaji Aszú wine, known as the “wine of kings.” Villány in the south is celebrated for its robust red wines, especially those from Bordeaux varieties. The Eger region produces the renowned Egri Bikavér or “Bull’s Blood,” a rich red wine.

The Balaton Wine Region around Lake Balaton is known for aromatic white wines, while the Danube Wine Region is the largest and offers a variety of both reds and whites. Hungary’s winemaking tradition dates back to Roman times, benefiting from a continental climate and diverse terroirs.
