Idle Rock Summer Citrus Vodka
Idle Rock Summer Citrus Vodka pours crystal clear, and the moment it hits the glass the aroma lifts out like the first squeeze of a fresh lemon. Bright lemon zest leads, joined by sweeter, sun-ripened orange and a sharper, greener flash of lime peel, with a delicate botanical freshness threaded underneath. It’s a lively, uplifting nose, closer to a bowl of freshly cut citrus on a summer table than to any sherbet or boiled sweet, and it sets the tone for a vodka built around natural fruit character rather than sugary flavouring.
On the palate, the first thing you notice is the texture. Idle Rock Summer Citrus Vodka is silky and rounded, gliding across the tongue without the hot, prickly edge that can catch out lesser flavoured vodkas. The citrus carries straight through from the nose, juicy rather than sour, with the orange giving the fruit its warmth and body, the lemon its brightness, and the lime a crisp, zesty snap at the edges. A soft natural sweetness ties the three together, enough to round the citrus off without ever tipping into anything cloying.
Underneath the fruit, the base spirit does exactly what a good vodka should. Distilled from high-grade grain with selected botanicals, it’s clean and pure, giving the citrus a clear stage while adding a quiet, gently aromatic backbone that keeps the flavour lively rather than one-dimensional. At 40% ABV it has real presence, but the warmth is mellow and rounded, sitting comfortably beneath the zest rather than competing with it, so the whole sip feels fresh and balanced from start to finish.
The finish is crisp, clean and refreshing, with a last trace of lemon and orange peel lingering as the spirit fades. Idle Rock Summer Citrus Vodka is a naturally versatile bottle: lovely served ice-cold from the freezer, or over ice with a twist of orange or a wedge of lime. It truly comes into its own lengthened with soda, tonic or lemonade for a long summer serve, and it brings bright citrus lift to cocktails from a vodka sour, a Cosmopolitan or a Lemon Drop to a sparkling spritz topped with Prosecco.
Idle Rock Summer Citrus Vodka is made by Saint Sithney Distillery, a young, family-run Cornish producer based at Sithney, just outside Helston and only a short drive from Penventon. The distillery was founded by Greville and Wendy Richards, who brought together Greville’s background in Cornish farming with Wendy’s passion for creative distilling, with Wendy taking on the role of chief distiller. Their first spirit, Saint Sithney Cornish Dry Gin, launched in December 2023, and it quickly built a loyal following among Cornish chefs, hotels and bars.
From there the range grew fast. Flavoured gins followed, alongside alcohol-free botanical spirits, and in 2026 Saint Sithney brought the Cape Cornwall Rum Company into the family, adding rum to its Cornish portfolio. Idle Rock was the next step: a dedicated premium vodka brand, introduced in June 2026 and built around an exceptionally smooth Cornish base vodka and a collection of flavours designed for every occasion. Idle Rock Summer Citrus Vodka sits alongside the Original, Raspberry, Cherry, Watermelon and Double Espresso expressions, among others, as the range’s bright, sunny, all-season citrus serve.
Citrus and vodka share a long history of their own. Lemon-infused vodka was a traditional favourite in Russia and Eastern Europe, where spirits were steeped with citrus peel, fruit and herbs long before flavoured vodka became a bar-shelf category, and citrus vodkas went on to lead the modern flavoured vodka boom of the late twentieth century, helping to inspire classics such as the Cosmopolitan and the Lemon Drop. Idle Rock Summer Citrus Vodka brings that tradition to the Cornish coast, capturing the bright, carefree feel of a long summer evening in a smooth, modern Cornish spirit.

Place and memory are inherently interlinked throughout the cornish landscape. At Sithney, the ancient and the modern meld in the present, creating links to the past and a grounding in place and identity.
Named after Saint Sithney who came to Cornwall as one of a band of Irish missionaries. Legend states that God asked Sithney to be the patron saint of women seeking husbands, but Sithney retorted that he would never get any rest and so instead became the patron saint of mad dogs!
History is entrenched in every aspect of Sithney, even below the ground as the landscape is peppered with mines, some of which go back as far as Tudor times- the most renowned being the Great Wheal Fortune mine. Many generations of Cornishmen toiled in these pits, producing copper, zinc, arsenic, tungsten and tin. It is said that in the 1950s, a lone minor was seen to be working in the burrows, taking two sacks of Wolfram daily to the nearby village of Camborne to sell. And so, the wheel of fortune turns and, like the rotations of the hands of a clock, time has brought a new spirit of creativity and pride to the small parish – Saint Sithney Distilling co.
