Black Gold XO Cafe Tequila offers a rich profile designed as a dry, high-proof coffee spirit rather than a sticky liqueur. Sitting at 34% ABV, it balances dark-roasted coffee richness with authentic agave character.
Aroma & Nose
dominant, dark-roasted coffee bean notes reminiscent of freshly pulled espresso lead the nose. Beneath the intense coffee bouquet lies a layer of bittersweet dark chocolate, a touch of toasted caramel, and a subtle undertone of warm, earthy cooked agave.
Palate & Mouthfeel
Full-bodied and silky smooth, the palate delivers an immediate punch of freshly brewed espresso and bittersweet cocoa. Unlike low-proof, sugary alternatives, its texture remains lush yet dry. Black Gold XO Café Tequila was created in 2024 by distributor LWC Drinks (under Signature Brands) as a direct response to the massive void left in the market by the global discontinuation of Patrón XO Cafe.

Filling the Void: Following Bacardi’s decision to phase out the cult-favorite Patrón XO Cafe in 2021, consumer demand for a dry, high-proof coffee tequila remained intense. Black Gold was formulated to deliver a nearly identical flavor profile, luxury feel, and 34% ABV strength.
Award-Winning Debut: Prior to its public release, the unbranded liquid was submitted to the 2024 Tequila & Mezcal Masters, earning a Gold Medal in blind taste tests purely on flavor.
Production & Design
Mexican Origin: Produced in Mexico, the liqueur pairs authentic tequila with dark roasted coffee beans to achieve a rich, dry, espresso-forward spirit with notes of dark chocolate and agave rather than a syrupy, low-ABV sweetness.
Eco-Conscious Packaging: Designed with a striking black and gold aesthetic, the bottle utilizes post-consumer recycled glass along with a biodegradable, recycled stopper.
