Marsannay
Marsannay, the gateway to the prestigious Cote de Nuits in Burgundy, France, is a unique appellation that produces wines of all three colors: red, white, and rose. The Marsannay AOC, established on May 19, 1987, spans the communes of Marsannay-la-Cote, Couchey, and Chenove.
The red wines of Marsannay are known for their intense coloration and a bouquet that harmoniously blends red and black fruits like morello cherry, strawberry, blackcurrant, and blueberry. On the palate, they offer a powerful and generous attack, leading to a long and meaty finish. The whites, primarily made from Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, showcase a range of citrus aromas and white flowers, with a full and rounded mouthfeel introducing a fine and persistent minerality. The roses are characterized by their tender fruitiness, reminiscent of vine-grown peaches and gooseberry, and are full, fresh, and enticing on the palate.
Marsannay wines are versatile in pairing, with the reds complementing red meats, freshwater fish, fine cured meats, game fowl, and full-flavored cheeses like Époisses or Munster. The roses are perfect for summer barbecues, mixed salads, white meats, and spicy dishes.
