Brunelllo di Montalcino
Brunello di Montalcino is a red DOCG Italian wine produced in the vineyards surrounding the town of Montalcino, in the province of Siena, located about 80 km south of Florence, in the Tuscan wine region.
The name “Brunello” evolved from what was initially believed to be an individual grape variety grown in Montalcino. However, in 1879, the province of Siena’s Ampelographic Commission determined that Sangiovese and Brunello were the same grape variety, and the former should be its designated name. Thus, in Montalcino, the name Brunello came to represent the wine produced with 100% Sangiovese
Brunello di Montalcino wines are typically garnet in color with aromas of red and black fruit, underlying vanilla, spice, and perhaps a hint of earthiness.
They are usually full-bodied with alcohol levels around 14-15% ABV, Good tannic structure and bright acidity provide balance, making them age-worthy and complex
