Verdejo grape

Verdejo

Verdejo is a delightful white wine grape that hails from Spain’s Rueda region. Pronounced as “Vurr-day-ho,” Verdejo produces light-bodied, dry white wines that are a fantastic alternative to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio.

When young, Verdejo offers flavors of lime, Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and a touch of grass and fennel.

As Verdejo ages, it gains a rich texture, flavors of toasted almonds, and a refreshing sparkly acidity. Bitter grass and fennel notes emerge on the finish.

The grape itself is small, with light green skin, and produces dry, light-bodied wines with no tannins and medium to high acidity.
