Minervois
Minervois is a captivating AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) located in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region, which spans across the departments of Aude and Hérault in southern France. The appellation is named after the historic village of Minerve and is recognized for its rich blend of varietal wines
AOC regulations stipulate that Minervois wines must be blends, with at least two varieties included. The red wines, which are the most prominent, are produced from a minimum of 60% Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Lladoner Pelut, with Carignan, Cinsault, Piquepoul, Terret, and Rivairenc making up to a maximum of 40%. Syrah and Mourvèdre alone must constitute at least 20% of the blend.
The white wines, though less common, may include Marsanne, Roussanne, Maccabeu, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Piquepoul, and Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains
These wines are celebrated for their full-bodied character, with a robust structure and a complex bouquet of aromas that embody the essence of this dynamic wine-producing area
