Marc Tempe
Domaine Marc Tempé, nestled in the picturesque village of Zellenberg in Alsace’s Haut-Rhin region, has a rich history rooted in tradition and innovation. Founded in 1993 by Marc and Anne-Marie Tempé, the domaine was born from their shared passion for winemaking and their family’s vineyard holdings. Marc, who began his journey as a lab technician for the INAO (the body governing France’s appellation system), transitioned to working outdoors as a vineyard expert, selecting lieux-dits for Alsace’s Grand Cru system.
The domaine spans nearly 20 acres of hillside vineyards, where Marc and Anne-Marie practice biodynamic farming, a method that emphasizes harmony with nature and sustainable practices. Their commitment to quality is evident in their meticulous approach to viticulture and winemaking: the vines are pruned severely for low yields, harvested by hand, and pressed slowly to retain acidity. The wines are aged in old foudres or Burgundy barrels, and fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts
