Carmenere grape

Carmenere

Carmenere, a captivating wine grape variety, has a fascinating history and a distinctive flavor profile.

The Carmenere grape was originally planted in the Médoc region of Bordeaux, France. In its homeland, it contributed to producing deep red wines and was occasionally blended, much like Petit Verdot.

While Carmenere is now rarely found in France, Chile has become its emblematic strain. Chilean winemakers unwittingly brought Carmenere cuttings from France, thinking they were Merlot, and began cultivating this grape in their home country.

Carmenere based wines are often compared to Merlot. They are fleshy, silky, and fruit-driven.
