Clare Valley
Clare Valley is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, nestled in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 142 km north of Adelaide.
The unique terroir of Clare Valley is a combination of surprising elevation and ancient sedimentary soils. The climate is moderately continental, with cool to cold nights and warm to hot summer days. The higher altitude ensures cool nights even during the heat of summer, allowing fruit to ripen evenly and slowly.
Riesling: Clare Valley is renowned as the Australian home of Riesling. Its signature Rieslings are light, fresh, and citrusy, with flavors of lime.
Shiraz: Generally full-flavored with notes of blackberry, spice, and mint. It’s a more savory Shiraz than what you might expect from Australia.
Cabernet Sauvignon: These dark, rich wines exhibit black cherry flavors and are often blended with Shiraz for the bold and uniquely Australian Shiraz-Cabernet blend.
